If you want a meal with a side of epic Mt. Kenya views, Root North is the spot. I came for the scenery but stayed for the unreal Steak Pie—and yes, it’s packed with actual tender steak, not just a sad layer of gravy and bread. Every bite was hearty, flavorful, and seriously satisfying. The café itself has such a cool, laid-back vibe—perfect for a lazy brunch, a coffee date with a mountain backdrop, or just chilling after a hike. The staff were super friendly, and the whole place just feels like a hidden treasure. Honestly, between the jaw-dropping views, the legit food (that Steak Pie though ), and the good vibes, Root North is a 10/10 experience. Do yourself a favor and go—just save me a slice of pie next time!

Just 26km from Nanyuki on your way to Meru/Isiolo is this quiet joint on a farm. Their apple pie is to die for. It's tiny though but the amazing space, being in a farm with trees, clean crisp air and with some zipline and hammock for the kids as you wait for your coffee or whatever else you need serves up amazing vibes. Place isn't too big, but just enough. It sells flowers too and is a perfect Pitstop compared to the kisima place. Pricing, though, is over the top, but it's worth it.

One of the Northern Kenya’s best coffee shops, set around beautifully manicured lawns on the edge of an expansive farmland, with awe inspiring views of Mt Kenya and the hills around. Simply, you’ll love the views, trust me. The staff are warm and very friendly. The coffee is fine! And lots of healthy pastries, snacks to savor. Has a playground too for the kiddies. Great 10/10 spot to pause your journey while up in the North lands.

A lovely stop! Space for children to play, good coffee and a fair selection of food at a very reasonable price.
